Estate Planning
An essential part of a comprehensive financial strategy is ensuring our plan will be carried out if we are ill, incapacitated, or deceased. While no one likes to think about dying, now is the time to ensure we have arranged your accounts and drafted estate planning documents well before they are needed.
Most people understand the need to have a will. Unfortunately, many stop there, and today a will on its own is generally not enough to protect an estate. A durable power of attorney allows someone to act on your behalf regarding your property and finances if you are unable. A durable power of attorney for health care names someone who will make health care decisions on your behalf, and a living will provides them with direction on what you would want. A revocable living trust can protect your assets from probate and ensure they are distributed as you desire.
We can review your accounts and insurance policies to be sure that, when applicable, your beneficiaries are properly named and updated as necessary. We will work with your estate planning attorney in drafting the documents, as necessary, and will review your situation periodically to determine whether changes or additional estate planning items are needed.
